Software promised to save time, but created more tabs to check
Before founding Lumio, our leadership spent collective decades managing high-consequence customer operations and IT support queues. Every company bought more software, yet our teams were spending over 35% of their working hours copying answers between browser tabs.
When conversational AI arrived, most tools rushed to build chatty bots that hallucinated facts and made promises teams couldn’t keep. We took the opposite approach: what if an assistant did only the mechanical, repetitive work, cited its sources with absolute precision, and left final judgment to experienced human staff?
That philosophy is what Lumio is built upon. We measure our success not by how long users stay inside our app, but by how quickly they can close their queues and return to the creative, challenging parts of their jobs.
Born out of ticket queue fatigue
While leading operational teams, our founders spent four hours every morning copying answers from internal Notion wikis to Zendesk tabs. The first prototype was a terminal script.

We scrapped our initial black-box prototype and re-engineered Lumio around vector-grounded citations, guaranteeing zero hallucinated policy claims.
